When is Durga puja?
It is determined by the lunar calender.It is celebrated in the last five days of Navratri and Dussehra.Generally this puja occurs in the months of september or october.

Goddess durga is decorated very beautifully.She has ten armed hands by which she kills the Mahishasura.She wears a beautiful saree.Her lion is also decorated with care.Mahishasura is also looks like a demon.Her children are also dressed very well.

Durga puja is celebrated as ganesh chaturthi festival.in sasthi(the first day of puja) the devi is installed in pandel and people start to travel;they gather for the next 4days in front of pandals.in Dashami(the last day of festival)
People decorate their homes streets.Music is played allover the pandals.
Rituals
After the devi is installed a ritual is performed to evoke her presence on saptami.This involves a small banana tree called kola bou(banana bride) which is bathed in a nearby river and also it is dressed in saree.In astami the biggest ritual is performed which is anjali.also prayers are offered to the goddess everyday during the festival, and the goddess is worshiped by the Purohit.also there occurs Aarti in the evening in astami.On the last day it is known that goddess will return to her husband's house(kailash).and she is taken for i.mersiom.Women play sindooor(vermillion powder).People pray for wellbeing.and everybody pray for the next year's durga puja.

This indian festival is extremely social and thrilling event.Many cultural programs are performed.People buy new clothes.Streets are decorated,cleaned.The whole city is decorated.The big pandals are made.People are very happy these days.
